AT&T recently completed upgrading the IT system between New Orleans and Houston for Shell Exploration & Production Company (SEPCo), a job that AT&T had signed up for prior to Hurricane Katrina. AT&T completed the work in time for the return of SEPCo's employees to their offices in New Orleans. AT&T upgraded SEPCo's IT system to a private high speed fiber-optic network with the latest optical switching technology. Using the network, SEPCo workers can transmit all the data typically found on a PC in one second.
