BellSouth was presented the 21st Century Achievement Award by the prestigious IDG Computerworld Honors Program. The company received the award for its AMBER Alert Field Notification program that includes partnerships with state law enforcement agencies throughout the Southeast.
Through BellSouth's own field dispatch system and the state law agencies, AMBER alerts from the nine-state region are distributed to more than 13,000 technicians in the field. BellSouth, through its employee intranet and the public Internet, also distributes the alerts to its more than 60,000 employees, 100,000 Pioneers and millions of customers through its BellSouth Internet services home page.
