Ethanol
Biomasses that are high in carbohydrates can be fermented much like beer and wine to create an alcohol that is used to fuel vehicles. Unlike beer and wine though, this kind of alcohol is non-potable.
Generally created from sugar and starch, ethanol is now being produced from cellulose, the fibers found naturally in plants. Ethanol can be combined with gasoline to cut down on carbon emissions while still increasing octane levels
Biodiesel
Methanol (alcohol) is combined with either vegetable oil, animal fat or cooking grease to create this efficient and environmentally sound fuel. When used in a small percentage, vehicle emissions are reduced. When used in pure form, biodiesel can be a complete alternative diesel engine fuel.
